About Emily Alexander, LPC

I’m here to help you create meaningful change in your life.

Sometimes, the hardest part is knowing where to start. Whether you’re navigating stress, anxiety, trauma, or simply feeling stuck, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I believe in your ability to heal, grow, and move forward—you just need the right tools, support, and guidance to get there.

My approach is flexible and collaborative. I use humor, empathy, and practical strategies to meet you exactly where you are. Together, we’ll explore what’s been holding you back, build new skills, and create a path toward feeling more grounded, empowered, and confident in your life’s journey.

My Background & Approach

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado with more than 18 years of experience in the mental health field. I’ve worked in outpatient care, correctional settings, and community mental health, and I’ve taught psychology at the college level in San Antonio, Texas.

I hold a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Tampa.

I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, along with other evidence-based approaches.

While EMDR is often at the core of my trauma work, I take an eclectic approach, drawing from:

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

  • ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)

  • SFBT (Solution-Focused Brief Therapy)

  • Strength-based techniques

  • Trauma-focused interventions

  • Forensic psychology insights

This allows me to adapt therapy to your needs and goals, rather than fit you into a rigid model.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

• Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the Colorado Division of Insurance at 303-894-7490 or 1-800-930-3745.
